Claude Giroux Scores A Shootout Beauty (Video)
With 25 goals and 80 points in 64 games this season, Claude Giroux has solidified his spot amongst the top ten most skilled players in the NHL these days. And he may have bumped his name up a few more spots on that list following his performance in the shootout during Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Taking a page from Pavel Datsyuk’s shootout playbook, Giroux adopted the backhand-drag-and-pop-it-top-shelf maneuver, as he nearly caused Jonas Gustavsson to rip his groin apart before lifting the puck over his pad and into the back of the net. With the game producing a total of zero goals through 65 minutes of play, Giroux was at least kind enough to give the fans inside the Air Canada Center something to talk about besides another Leafs loss.
Here is a look at the beautiful shootout goal from the Flyers’ All-Star forward.
