Stat Line Of The Night — 3/20/12 — Malkin, Crosby And Neal
When the Winnipeg Jets hosted the Washington Capitals last Friday, their fans could be heard taunting Alex Ovechkin with chants of “Crosby’s better!” During last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Jets players would learn that not only is Sidney Crosby better than Ovechkin these days, but so too are Evgeni Malkin and James Neal.
Those three players would single-handedly strike a dagger through the Jets’ playoff hopes, as they combined for 13 points during the Penguins’ 8-4 victory. Malkin would lead the way with two goals and three assists on the night, moving him nine clear of the Lightning’s Steven Stamkos in the NHL scoring race. As for Neal, he would record his first hat-trick of the season along with an assist, while Crosby added four assists, as the Penguins’ dynamic offense put the league on notice once again.
The Pens’ roster is loaded with stars and last night it was Crosby, Malkin and Neal who were shinning brightest. As a result, they each earn a spot on the “Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
