Ian Eagle Calls Out Broadcast Partner Mike Fratello During Awkward On-Air Incident (Videos)
With Mike Fratello’s contract with the YES Network set to expire at the end of this season, we may be witnessing the end of the Nets’ entertaining broadcasting combo consisting of Fratello and Ian Eagle (probably one of the better combos the Nets have put together in some time). But before these two talented on-air personalities part ways, they decided to partake in one final awkward exchange during Saturday’s game between the Celtics and the Nets.
It began late in the third quarter, when Fratello attempted to explain what a “slip screen” is. Apparently, Eagle was having some difficulty understanding the explanation from the former NBA coach, resulting in a sarcastic exchange between the two that continued to resurface on a few occasions during the fourth quarter. By the time they reached the final few minutes of the game, Eagle simply couldn’t stop himself from calling out Fratello for his “patronizing,” “gobbledygook” comments from earlier in the evening.
You can watch it all unfold in the three videos below, beginning with Fratello’s explanation of slip screens in the first video, and ending with Eagle’s accusations against Fratello in the final video.
Check it out.
