Stat Line Of The Night — 4/18/12 — Jordan Staal

jordan staalThe Pittsburgh Penguins entered last night’s Game Four match-up with the Philadelphia Flyers knowing that they needed a win in order to stay alive.  They also knew that in order to get that much-needed win, they would need to score plenty of goals, as they Flyers had already proven through the first three games of the series that they are capable of filling the Pens net with plenty of goals of their own.  The Pens would accomplish both of those feats, as they recorded ten goals en route to the 10-3 victory.

Jordan Staal was a key contributor in the scoring department, as his hat-trick led the way for a Penguins team that will now return home to an arena full of their fans with momentum on their side for Game 5 on Friday.

Staal only had three shots during the game, but he made the most of them, as his first tally would prove to be the game-winner, while the other two helped give the Penguins some much needed insurance during a series where their goaltending has been anything but reliable.  The hat-trick gives the Pens’ center five goals and two assists in the first four games of this year’s playoffs, and it also earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
