Stat Line Of The Night — 4/24/12 — Paul Millsap

paul millsapThe Utah Jazz entered last night riding a three-game winning streak.  They knew that if they could extend that streak to four against the Phoenix Suns, they would assure themselves of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference while ending their opponent’s playoff hopes in the process.  They would do just that, thanks in large part to an all-around solid performance from Paul Millsap.

The Jazz forward recorded a game-high 26 points during yesterday’s crucial game, and he also added 15 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a blocked shot.  Those numbers were enough to give the Jazz the significant edge in this game, as they eliminated the Suns from playoff contention with the 100-88 victory.

The Jazz can still move up as high as seventh-place in the Western Conference standings if they can win their final game and the Denver Nuggets lose both of their remaining games.  Either way, they will find themselves up against a formidable foe in the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs.  It certainly won’t be easy for them to pull off the upset, but if Millsap can continue to come up big in big games like last night’s, they do have a chance.  For now, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
