Panthers’ John Madden Smashes Face During Collision With Teammate (Video)
Entering last night’s Game 7 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up against the New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers’ forward John Madden had to expect that he would be on the receiving end of more than his fair share of hits during what many believed would be a tight checking game. What he probably didn’t expect, however, was that one of those checks would come from his own teammate.
Early in the first period Madden took a pass in the neutral zone and proceeded to skate back towards his end of the ice before colliding hard with teammate Tomas Kopecky. The impact left Madden bloodied and dazed on the ice, as play had to be stopped while the former Devil was escorted off the ice with a trail of blood forming behind him.
But in true hockey-player-fashion, Madden wasn’t out of the game for long, as he went to the room for some repairs, before returning to the ice looking like this.
Unfortunately, his return to the game forced him to watch Adam Henrique score 3:47 into double-overtime, as his Panthers were eliminated from the playoffs on home ice.
