Amare Stoudemire Injures Hand After Punching Fire Extinguisher (Video)
If things continue to develop the way they have over the course of the first two games of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks, the Knickerbockers may only have two more games remaining in their 2011-12 NBA Season. As for their All-Star power forward, Amar’e Stoudemire, his anger following last night’s Game 2 loss to the Heat may have caused him to play his final game of the series, and the season.
Stoudemire wasn’t pleased with his team’s 104-94 loss, or their 2-0 deficit in the series, so he took his frustration out on the glass casing of a fire extinguisher at the American Airlines Arena following last night’s game. He was seen being treated by paramedics and doctors from both teams, before leaving the arena with his left arm and hand heavily bandaged and supported by a sling. All indications are that Stoudemire will be out for Game 3 on Thursday, and he will almost certainly miss the remainder of the series.
Something tells me that the Heat organization will gladly play to repair the busted glass, if it means the Knicks will be paying on the scoreboard as a result of Amare’s busted-up hand.
Here is a look at the NBA on TNT’s David Aldridge breaking the story Monday night.
