Stat Line Of The Night — 5/3/12 — Brandon Morrow

brandon morrowTwo nights ago the Los Angeles Angels were on the right end of a no-hitter, as Jered Weaver didn’t allow a single hit through nine innings against the Minnesota Twins.  Last night the Angels were nearly on the wrong end of a no-hitter, as their batters struggled to find an answer for Toronto Blue Jays starter, Brandon Morrow.

When Morrow is on his game, that tends to be bad new for the opposition, and that was certainly the case last night, as he allowed only three hits, no walks and no earned runs against while striking out eight over the course of nine innings.  That performance on the mound would make the job of the Jays’ batters a much easier one, as they only required one run.  However, they provided much more, on their way to the 6-0 victory.

With the win, Morrow is now 3-1 with a solid 2.38 ERA this season.  After recording two no-decisions and a loss in his first three starts, he has won each of his last three starts while giving up just one earned run over that time frame.  He appears to be getting better and better with each start, and last night’s performance was certainly his best of the season, as it earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 3, 2012.
