Celtics Fan Hits Dwyane Wade in the Face with Ball (Video)
Every NBA fan fantasizes about getting courtside seats. They put you up front and in the action like no other seats in sports can. In hockey you can sit right next to the ice, but there’s a big piece of plexiglass between you and the game (thankfully). In baseball you can sit right down by the field, but the play will only come over to you every once in a while. Most of the time it stays pretty far away.
But if you sit courtside at an NBA game, you’ve got like a 70% chance of getting a big sweaty giant in your lap at some point. So it’s pretty awesome for the fans
It’s not always so nice for the players. In most sports, the athletes don’t have to get up close and personal with the fans taunting them. And they certainly don’t have to worry about falling on some fat guy and a bunch of folding chairs when they go for the ball, or a fan standing five feet away throwing a ball at their head.
Which brings us to last night’s playoff game between the Heat and Celtics in Boston. At one point Miami’s Dwyane Wade lost control of the ball and pursued it (to no avail) as it headed out of bounds. Then, as he was walking away, a fan in the second row tossed the ball back to him, but with Wade not looking, it hit him in the side of the face.
Obviously, unlike LeBron’s post-game beer shower, this was no malicious act. But I don’t imagine D-Wade enjoyed it.
