Carlos Santana Tackles Cincinnati Reds Fan Going For Foul Ball (Video)
It’s always fun to get front-row seats for a sporting event. While the vantage point isn’t quite as good down there as it is a little further back, you really get to feel like you’re part of the action. In fact, sometimes you are a part of the action.
Unfortunately, that’s not always a good thing.
Yesterday at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, during the rubber match of the Battle for Ohio between the Reds and Indians, a foul ball off the bat of Reds third baseman Todd Frazier drifted out of play and into the first row of the stands. However, Indians right fielder Carlos Santana wasn’t about to just give up on the play like that. At the last second, thinking he might just be able to nab it, Santana made a valiant leap into the stands…right into a three-hundred pound Reds fan. And that guy went down hard.
Check it out:
I would’ve thought a guy with that mass would have inertia on his side, and that he wouldn’t have gone down so easily. Then again, it doesn’t look like Santana has been missing many meals, either.
In any case, you gotta love some of the reactions of the fans around the play. For example, at the 0:34 mark, there’s the guy sitting down with his knees and hands together, just trying to protect himself from harm. Then at the 0:41 mark you have the look on another guy’s face as Santana and the big fella hit the floor (I think it translates into, “daaaaaaamn”). That look pretty much says it all.
