Anthony Davidson Involved in Frightening Crash At The Le Mans Race On Saturday (Video)
This past weekend, the North American racing scene was focused on whether Dale Earnhardt Jr. would finally end his four year, 143-race win drought at Michigan on Saturday (he did).
However, in Europe all eyes were focused on the great 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday. And about 5 hours into the world’s oldest and most famous endurance race, those eyes that were not too bleary and blood-shot witnessed a terrifying crash.
Team Toyota driver Anthony Davidson of Great Britain had just taken over for teammate Sebastien Buemi and was in the hunt for the lead. Then, all of a sudden, a Ferrari driven by Italy’s Piergiuseppe Perazzini bumped into him, sending his car flying into the air before crashing front-first into the tire barrier at full speed.
Here’s the video:
As you can see, his Toyota teammates are all in shock as they watch the crash unfold. Luckily, it looks like Davidson will be totally fine. Though he was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to the hospital for observation, his team reported that he was actually walking around and was just a bit banged up.
Sure enough, Davidson issued a tweet from the hospital the next morning that said “Feeling a bit sore today, but generally just happy to be alive!”
Yeah, I bet man.
