Fan Joins Spanish Soccer Players Celebrating Their Euro 2012 Victory Yesterday (GIF)
Yesterday, Spain pummeled Italy 4-0 to win their second consecutive European Championship. And when you add these feats from 2008 and 2012 to their victory at the 2010 World Cup, that makes this group of Spaniards one of the best soccer teams of all time.
Obviously, this has every Spaniard on the planet pretty damned excited. The country has had it pretty rough since the start of the global economic crisis back in 2008. Spain’s unemployment rate hit 24% this year, which is twice the average rate of other European countries. So they really needed an excuse to party.
And party they did. After the final whistle blew yesterday, bringing Euro 2012 to a close, fans like this awesome dude partied in the stands:
Yep, that guy is dressed like a matador, and he is ecstatic.
However, not all of the Spaniards in attendance at Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, were willing to stay in the stands. At least one decided to join the players celebrating on the field. And, rather surprisingly, he got right up next to the players and joined in their victory dance for a split second before security officials yanked him away (and presumably roughed him up a bit).
Check it out:
As you can see, the guy grabbed onto defender Alvaro Arbeloa when the security guys got there, and Arbeloa did not appreciate it.
