Kevin Love Thinks He’ll Make U.S. Olympic Basketball Team As “The Token White Guy” (Video)
Kevin Love had a pretty great season with the injury-depleted Minnesota Timberwolves this year. His 26.0 points per game (4th) and 13.3 rebounds per game (2nd) helped him finish 6th in MVP voting at the end of the season, despite his team’s 26-40 record.
It’s no wonder, therefore, that Love is on the short list of guys being considered for the U.S. Olympic Basketball Team for the upcoming 2012 London Olympics. And when Love stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his potential trip to London in a few weeks, he didn’t mind sharing his thoughts on the matter.
Check out the video:
Obviously, in addition to being a fierce rebounder and a pretty dangerous power forward, Kevin Love is also a comedian. Sure, that was probably not the most politically-correct answer to give, but still, you gotta love a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously. And besides, it’s not like people don’t realize that there aren’t a lot of white guys dominating the NBA these days.
If you’ve got time, go back and watch the rest of the interview. Love is pretty charismatic throughout, explaining, among other things, why he is probably the reason for the NBA’s strict policies regulating what players can and cannot tweet. It’s good stuff. Trust me.
