Raucous Players Attack Brazilian Soccer Coach With All Varieties Of Booze During Post-Championship Press Conference (Video)
Felipe Scolari has had an up-and-down career as a soccer manager. Internationally, he’s had a ton of success, shooting to stardom in 2002 when he led Brazil to an unexpected World Cup Victory. Then he coached Portugal to the finals of Euro 2004 and a forth place finish at World Cup 2006.
In the world of club soccer, however, Scolari has had tougher luck. His biggest break was when he was hired by Chelsea in July of 2007. Unfortunately, he was canned just 7 months later.
But now, in his native Brazil, Scolari has finally achieve club success, leading Palmeiras to a 3-1 (aggregate) victory over Coritiba to win the Copa do Brasil. It’s the team’s first major trophy since 1999 and, as you would expect, everyone was extremely excited.
So while Scolari tried to conduct a normal post-game press conference after the big win, the players would have none of that seriousness. As Scolari was talking to the media, the players busted into the room and showered their coach with a variety of beverages (which I can only assume were of the alcoholic variety).
It was pretty funny. Check it out:
Luckily Scolari saw the rowdy players coming and managed to throw a towel on his head before the liquid started flowing.
