Robert Griffin III Looked Pretty Good In His Professional Debut Last Night (Video)
The Washington Redskins haven’t had too much luck finding a franchise quarterback over the last, oh, 20 years. So when they traded three first-round picks and one second-round pick to the St. Louis Rams for their #2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft back in March, it was a pretty big gamble for a desperate franchise.
Four top-60 picks for one player? That’s a lot. And besides, it’s not like the draft is a sure thing, especially at QB. Remember Ryan Leaf?
However, just one game into their 2012 pre-season schedule, Washington’s bold move is looking pretty good. Heisman Trophy-winner Robert Griffin III only took 14 snaps against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, but he made the most of them, completing 4 of 6 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, while accumulating a 145.8 QB rating.

Now, obviously that’s a really small sample size, so you don’t want to get too worked up over nothing. Nevertheless, that was a pretty amazing professional debut for the No. 2 overall pick. So stay tuned. Maybe RG3 will be this year’s Cam Newton. Skins fans certainly hope so.
