Montenegro Defeats Serbia With Awesome Half-Court Buzzer-Beater (Video)
The 2012 Summer Olympics may be over, but there’s still some big-time international basketball going on—specifically, qualification for the 2013 FIBA European Basketball Championships. And over the weekend, a Group A qualifier between Balkan neighbors Serbia and Montenegro had a thrilling finish.
The favored Serbs went up 67-54 with just 4:55 left on the clock, thanks to a three-pointer by Milos Teodosic. However, a jump shot from Montenegro’s Bojan Dubljevic kicked off a 12-2 run that made it 69-66 for Serbia with just over a minute remaining. Montenegro then tied the game with 11 seconds remaining, but Teodosic gave Serbia the lead again, 71-70, by going one-for-two from the line with just 3 seconds left.
So, was that how it would end? Of course not (else we probably wouldn’t be talking about it now). Instead, Montenegro inbounded the ball to Nikola Ivanovic, who carried it to half-court and threw up a prayer before time expired.
And his prayer was answered.

How’s that for an ending? I don’t know about you, but this kind of makes me want to watch more international basketball.
Oh, and in case you couldn’t tell by the nonplussed reaction from the announcers, the game was being played in Serbia.
