Wizards Guard John Wall Schools A Hotshot High School Prospect In One-On-One (Video)
When you’re a big-time college basketball recruit, it’s easy for your ego to get a little inflated. After all, you’re always talking to people who tell you how great you are—coaches, recruiters, fellow students, your mom, you name it.
So what’s the best way to knock a big-name recruit down a peg? Have him go one-on-one with an established NBA player.
This happened recently in Raleigh, North Carolina. Washington Wizards point guard John Wall stopped by a Reebok Breakout Challenge recruitment camp being held in his home town, and it didn’t take long for one of the hotshot high school stars to start talking smack.
In this case, the hotshot high school star in question is Tyrek Coger of Quality Education Academy, a 6’8″ 230 pounder from the class of 2013. And it didn’t take long for Wall to challenge the kid to a game of one-on-one.
Afterward, the kid was a little more humble. Have a look:
As you can see, Coger does okay for himself. Of course, it also looks like Wall is taking it easy on him. But as the kid himself says, it was a learning experience.
In this instance, he learned he has a long way to go.
