Stat Line Of The Night — 9/10/12 — Joe Flacco

Despite bringing his team to the AFC Championship twice during his four-year tenure as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, Joe Flacco still has his fair share of doubters.  And while a solid performance during week one of the regular season surely isn’t enough to change the minds of all of his naysayers, his shredding of the Bengals defence last night could be enough to change at least a few opinions out there.

Flacco was sharp, as he completed 21 of his 29 pass attempts on the night for 299 yards and two touchdowns.  He connected with seven different receivers throughout the course of the game.  One of them was Anquan Boldin, who Flacco found in the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown that put the Ravens up 17-3 in the second quarter.  As for his second score of the evening, it came via a 10-yard pass to tight end Dennis Pitta, as the Ravens scored 27 unanswered points in the second half to take the game by a score of 44-13.

The Ravens came just inches away from booking a spot to the Super Bowl last season (a dropped ball in the end zone and a missed chip-shot by Billy Cundiff, to be exact), but Flacco seems poised to bring his club over that hump, as his strong showing against a division rival earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, September 10, 2012.
