Rangers Pitcher Joe Nathan Dressed Up As Tony Romo During Warmups Yesterday (Video)
In recent years, the Cowboys have not been the most successful pro sports team in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. You see, the Mavericks won an NBA Championship in 2011, and of course, the Texas Rangers won back-to-back American League pennants, getting within one strike of a World Series in 2011…twice.
Nevertheless, in Texas, football is and always will be king.
How can you tell? Simple. You would never see a Cowboys player dressed up like Josh Hamilton for one of their practices, the way Rangers relief pitcher Joe Nathan dressed up like Tony Romo during his team’s warm-up session the other day.
Yes, before their game against the Indians at the Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday, Texas native Joe Nathan decided to have a little fun and amuse his teammates by dressing up as Tony Romo for on-field warmups. We’re talking uniform, pads, helmet—the works.
Have a look for yourself:
Nathan has pretty good form, doesn’t he? Just look at the way he drops back. It’s enough to make you think that he could give Kyle Orton a run for back-up duties in Dallas.
Anyway, after their impressive opening week victory over the Super Bowl champs last week, it’s no surprise that the Cowboys are really popular right now. But that could change in a few weeks if the Rangers can finally bring a World Series trophy home to Texas.
