Stat Line Of The Night — 9/20/12 — Andre Brown

With key offensive players like Ahmad Bradshaw and Hakeem Nicks out of the line-up for last night’s game against the Carolina Panthers, the New York Giants were hoping that their replacements could step in and fill the void.   Ramses Barden was one of those replacements, and he did his part—and then some—with nine receptions for 138 yards.  As for backup running back Andre Brown, well, he was even better.

Brown entered his third NFL season having yet to gain a positive yard in the pros, but after recording 90 total yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion in his debut last week, the former member of the NC State Wolfpack provided quite the encore, posting 113 rushing yards, and two touchdowns against the Panthers.  He would also add three receptions for 17 yards during the Giants’ dominating 36-7 victory.

For the past year, or so, the Giants have been criticized for their poor running game, but that has changed with Brown in the line-up.  If he keeps it up, he could supplant Bradshaw at the top of the depth chart.  For now, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, September 20, 2012.
