Stat Line Of The Night — 9/30/12 — Brian Hartline
It isn’t often that we feature a player from a losing team on the “Stat Line of the Night.” Then again, it isn’t often that a player on a losing football team puts up 12 receptions for 253 yards and a touchdown. But that was exactly what Miami Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline did during his team’s 24-21 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Hartline had already been a bit of a surprise this season, as he emerged out of nowhere to record 13 receptions for 202 yards through the first three weeks of the season. While solid, those numbers still allowed the former Ohio State Buckeye to remain under the radar heading into yesterday’s contest, but that probably won’t be the case going forward, as he was rookie Ryan Tannehill’s favorite target once again, hauling in 12 of the 19 balls thrown his way.
In the end, Hartline’s 253 receiving yards weren’t enough to earn his team the win, but it did earn him a Dolphins’ single-game record for receiving yards, as well as “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, September 30, 2012.
