Cricket Fans Construct Massive Beer Snake At The 2012 ICC World Twenty20 (Video)
If you live in North America you might not be aware of it, but right now the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 is going on in Sri Lanka.
What the heck is the 2012 ICC World Twenty20, you ask? It’s the World Cup of Twenty20 Cricket.
And what is Twenty20 Cricket? It’s basically a shortened version of the game that can be played in about 3 or 3½ hours, as opposed to the 5 days it often takes to play a “test cricket” match.
Still confused? Well, you can read more about cricket here. But for now, just take my word for it that there’s a major cricket tournament going on in Sri Lanka, and that it’s a really big deal to a lot of people.
Anyway, during a recent World Twenty20 match between England and host nation Sri Lanka at the Pallekale International Cricket Stadium, some bored and almost certainly drunk English cricket fans decided to entertain themselves by building the biggest beer snake possible. And man, did they do a pretty awesome job. Check it out:
Personally, while I admire the beer snake these folks built, I think the best thing about this video is the way everyone—English fans and Sri Lankan fans—works together to make it happen. You don’t always see that at sporting events…and you certainly don’t see that at sporting events that take place in Oakland.
