Stat Line Of The Night — 10/1/12 — Brandon Marshall
Following his impressive debut for the Bears during a week one win over the Indianapolis Colts, Brandon Marshall has been rather silent, causing some to question whether he and Jay Cuter would be able to reestablish the chemistry they displayed in 2007 and 2008, when they connected on a combined 206 passes as members of the Denver Broncos. Well, if last night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys is any indication, it appears as though Cutler and Marshall are on the same page once again.
Cutler targeted Marshall on eight occasions Monday night, and the Bears wideout hauled in seven of those targets for 138 yards an a touchdown, doing it mostly against the Cowboys’ newly acquired, high-priced cornerback, Brandon Carr. That solid performance by Marshall, along with some big plays by the Bears defense, would help guide Chicago to the dominating 34-18 victory at Cowboys Stadium.
The win improves the Bears’ record to 3-1 on the season, which ties them for top spot in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings. As for Marshall, he now has 23 receptions for 352 yards and two touchdowns on the season, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, October 1, 2012.
