Soccer Player Deals Opponent A Vicious Elbow To The Head, Refs Card Injured Guy (Video)

vicisou soccer elbow to head

Have you been wondering what’s become of the poor NFL replacement referees? Well, don’t worry. They found work in France, apparently, overseeing the country’s premier soccer league.

Okay, not really. That’s just my way of saying that the referees in the video you’re about to see really suck.

During a Ligue 1 match between defending champions Montpellier and St Etienne last Friday, Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa delivered a deliberate and vicious elbow to the head of Romain Hamouma that left him writhing on the ground in pain with a bloody mouth. However, the refs failed to see the egregious transgression of sportsmanship.  Nor, apparently, were they persuaded by all the blood. And after a few minutes of arguing, the only card they ended up giving was a yellow…to Hamouma and St Etienne for protesting too much!

It’s insane. You’ve got to see it to believe it.

(Also, if you listen closely, you’ll here the announces say “Ooo la la!” at about the 0:07 mark.)

Seems like somebody has been watching Metta World Peace play basketball.

In any case, Ligue 1 executives aren’t as incompetent as the referees of that match, fortunately. So when they saw the play, they handed down a well-deserved five-game ban to Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
