Stat Line Of The Night — 10/23/12 — Roberto Soldado

Roberto Soldado

Valencia hasn’t been having much success during their current La Liga campaign, but they had the opportunity to move into a tie atop Group F in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday  All they needed to do was go into Belarus and beat the team they were chasing, BATE Borisov.  And they did just that, thanks to a hat-trick  from Roberto Soldado.

The Spanish striker opened the scoring during first half injury time, as he buried a penalty kick after being fouled in the box by BATE’s Marco Simic.  As for his second and third goals of the night, they would come during the 55th and 69th minutes, sealing the 3-0 victory for Valencia.

With the win, Valencia moves into a three-way tie atop Group F with BATE and Bayern Munich.  As for Soldado, his three goals are enough to move him into a tie for second in Champions League scoring, and they also helped him earn “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, October 23, 2012.
