El Merreikh Keeper Essam El-Hadary Blows Game With Epic Fail! (Video)

egypt goalie fail

Whether they are taking place during penalty kicks, or during goal celebrations, goalkeeper fails in soccer are certainly nothing new.

What is new, however, is the manner in which this latest goalkeeper fail occurred.

It took place during the 83rd minute of an African Confederations Cup match between Sudanese champions El Merreikh and Congo’s Leopards de Dolisie, as El Merreikh keeper Essam El-Hadary decided to dangle a loose ball in front of a Leopards player, only to watch said player poke it past him for the easy goal.

And in case you were wondering, yes, that goal was an important one, as it gave the Leopards the 2-1 lead – a lead that they would not surrender.

Check it out:

While a part of me can’t help but laugh at this debacle from Essam El-Hadary, another part of me can’t help but fear for his life.  After all, I almost feel as though this it the type of thing that could get you killed in Sudan.

Am I overreacting?  Let’s hope so.
