What may very well be the second-most highly anticipated day in the history of the Grand Theft Auto series has finally arrived, as the trailer for Grand Theft Auto V has just been released by Rockstar.  And using words like “awesome,” “insane” and “brilliant” to describe it would be a vast understatement.

What begins as some simple story building regarding the game’s three main protagonists (from left to right in the above image: Trevor, Franklin and Michael), quickly turns into a sneak peak of all the action, action and more action you can expect from the latest edition from the GTA series.  And in addition to being able to switch between the game’s three main protagonists at almost any moment throughout the course of a game, Grand Theft Auto V is also expected to feature a city that will be larger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined.  In addition to many of the usual sights and structures you’d typically find in a Grand Theft Auto city, the city of Los Santos will also feature wilderness, a military base and an ocean floor that allows players to take part in some underwater exploration.

In addition to the aforementioned, Grand Theft Auto V will also feature improved controls for shooting and hands-on fighting, driving that feels more like a racing game, and more realistic movements from pedestrians.  And the graphics are easily the best that the GTA series has produced to date, as you’ll almost feel as though you are watching real people acting in a movie while playing this game.

Other interesting features you’ll find in GTA V include an economy that will allow you to buy loads of stuff (other than properties), and the dynamic missions from Red Dead Redemption will be back and they are said to include hitchhikers, muggers and even dead bodies!

Oh, and in case you’re still wondering what the most highly anticipated day in the history of the Grand Theft Auto series is, that would obviously be the actual release date of Grand Theft Auto V, which is expected to come sometime during Spring 2013.
