Orlando Magic Cheerleaders Takes Nasty Spill During Stunt, Gets Carted Off Court on a Stretcher (Videos)
We are all somewhat used to seeing athletes carted off the field on stretchers. It doesn’t happen everyday, but it happens often enough that we all know the drill: everyone stands around silently watching, waiting for a positive sign, and then, more often than not, the player gives a thumbs up to let us know he’s okay, and everybody cheers and lets out a sigh of relief.
Well, we saw such a scene unfold last night in Orlando during a game between the Magic and the New York Knicks. However, it wasn’t a player who had to be carted off on a stretcher. It was a Magic Cheerleader named Jamie Woode.
The Magic Stunt Team came out to perform a routine during the short intermission between the first and second quarters, and during that routine Woode lost her footing while being hoisted up onto a man’s shoulders and fell head first onto the floor.
Take a look:
Obviously we can’t see how she impacted the floor from this video, but that is probably just as well. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen enough cringe-inducing sports moments recently.
In any case, what we do know is that Woode’s fall was nasty enough to delay the game for 10 minutes while medical staff attended to her on the floor, put her on a stretcher, and carted her off the court. But not before she gave the crowd an enthusiastic wave as she was being wheeled away, so it would seem she’s going to be just fine.
Talk about a consumate professional, huh?
Get well soon, Ms. Woode.
