Check Out Neymar’s Epic Penalty Kick Fail Against Colombia (Video)
There have been lots of horrible, embarrassing penalty kicks taken over the years. However, none were as bizarre and mystifying as the one taken by Brazilian superstar Neymar last night during a friendly between Brazil and Colombia in New York.
How bad was it?
So bad that members of the opposing team came over to console him. That’s how bad.
Colombia had dominated for most of the match, taking a 1-0 lead just before halftime. However, Neymar—the 20-year-old prodigy who finished 10th in voting for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or, which is international soccer’s MVP award—tied the game with a beautiful goal in the second half. Then he got a chance to give Brazil the lead in the 80th minute when he was awarded a penalty kick.
Unfortunately for Brazil, Neymar’s bizarre approach to the ball culminated in a shot that missed the goal…by 30 feet.
No joke. The shot was 30 feet over the crossbar. Seems physically impossible, but it happened.
Take a look:
The only explanation I can come up with here is that maybe someone was doing something like THIS behind the goal.
