Pistons’ Greg Monroe Sinks Free Throws with One Eye Closed (Video)
Apparently depth perception is overrated.
Last night during the Pistons-Sixers game in Detroit, Pistons center Greg Monroe got poked in the right eye while taking the ball to the basket. This seemed to mess up his contact and, therefore, his vision. But he didn’t have time to fix it before he had to step to the line to take his free throws, so he just closed his right eye, took the shot, and made it with only one eye open. Like you do.
Take a look:
Not bad at all. It’s not quite as impressive as the blind Olympic archer who set a world record on the first day of the 2012 Summer Olympics, but it ain’t nothing, either.
And by the way, if you don’t think having only one eye open makes shooting free throws harder, go out right now and try it for yourself.
Anyway, it was just part of an all-around good night for Monroe, who also happened to take home our “Stat Line of the Night” honors for his part in ending the Pistons’ miserable eight-game losing streak to start the season.
