Stat Line of the Night — 12/03/2012 — Alfred Morris

When it comes to the Washington Redskins’ rookies, 2012 second-overall pick Robert Griffin III seems to garner most of the attention, but her certainly isn’t the only freshman in their lineup that has been making a difference on the field this season.  Sixth-round draft pick Alfred Morris has also been a key contributor in the Redskins’ offense, and last night was no exception.

Taking on the New York Giants with a chance to close their lead in the NFC East to just one game, the Redskins put their dangerous rushing attack to work.  They were led on the ground by Morris, who racked up 124 yards on 22 carries throughout the course of the night.  He did lose a fumble in the third quarter, but he made up for it by totaling 41 yards during the Redskins’ game-winning touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter, as they emerged with the hard-fought 17-16 victory.

Following that performance, Morris now ranks third in the league with 1,106 rushing yards this season.  That probably won’t help him finish ahead of RG3 in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, but on this occasion it does earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, December 3, 2012.
