Stat Line of the Night — 12/25/2012 — LeBron James
It can be an unusual experience for some to be playing a professional basketball game on Christmas, but after having played in so many of these nationally televised holiday showdowns, LeBron James has learned to adapt. So while most of us are spending our Christmas Days tearing apart wrapping paper and spreading happiness, King James often finds himself tearing apart opposing defenses while spreading the ball out among his teammates.
Yesterday afternoon was no exception, as James went off for 29 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, two steals and a block during a 103-97 victory over the same Oklahoma City Thunder team that he and the Heat beat in the NBA Finals one year earlier.
The victory was the Heat’s fifth in a row, and it allowed them to move into sole possession of top spot in the Eastern Conference following the Knicks’ loss to the Lakers earlier in the day. As for LeBron, he continues to make a strong statement for back-to-back MVP honors, as he currently ranks fifth in the league in points per game (25.5), ninth in assists (6.9), and 17th in rebounds (8.5). And now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, December 25, 2012.
