Stat Line of the Night — 1/3/2013 — Kenjon Barner
There are a few Oregon Ducks who deserve consideration for Thursday’s “Stat Line of the Night.” For starters, there’s quarterback Mark Mariota, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another during the Ducks’ 35-17 victory over Kansas State at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. And then there was DeAnthony Thomas, who was responsible for the Ducks first two touchdowns of the game–a 94-yard return on the opening kickoff, followed by a 23-yard touchdown reception later on in the first quarter.
But in the end, it was their other running back, Kenjon Barner, who emerged with the most impressive numbers on the night, as he rushed the ball 31 times for 143 yards, while adding another 24 yards and a touchdown through the air during the Ducks’ second straight BCS Bowl Game victory.
If Oregon coach Chip Kelly decides to high-tail it for the NFL, last night’s win would be an impressive way to end his college career at Eugene. And the same can certainly be said for senior running back Kenjon Barner, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, January 3, 2013.
