Stat Line of the Night — 1/15/2013 — Dwight Howard
The Los Angeles Lakers kicked off the new year by losing their first six games of 2013, but their fortunes could suddenly be changing. On Sunday, they snapped their streak of futility by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers. And last night it was their two superstars, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, that were leading the way during a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
While Kobe added a solid six assists, two rebounds and one steal to his 31 points, it was Howard’s similar 31-point performance that was most impressive on this night, as the All-Star center also had 16 rebounds and four blocks in 40 minutes of action. Combined, they accounted for 59.6% of the Lakers’ points during their 104-88 victory.
With wins in back-to-back games, the Lakers now sit only three games back of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. And now that it appears as though Dwight Howard is fully recovered from the back and shoulder problems that plagued him earlier, it could be time for him to prove his worth and help carry the Lakers into the Playoffs. More games like last night’s will go a long way towards helping that cause, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, January 15, 2013.
