Paul Maclean’s Doppelgänger Was Sitting Right Behind the Senators’ Bench Last Night (Videos)
It’s not uncommon to see interesting fans sitting right up against the glass behind the players benches at NHL games. After all, those seats are the hockey equivalent of sitting right behind home plate at a baseball game, providing a lot of camera time to whoever sits in them. And this attracts publicity seekers—like the Capitals fans wearing ponchos behind the Rangers bench during the 2009 playoffs, or the busty adult film star sitting behind the Devils bench last season.
However, I don’t know if we’ve ever seen something quite as weird as what we saw last night at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. The Senators were hosting the Florida Panthers there last night, and sitting right behind the Sens’ bench was a guy who looked exactly like head coach Paul Maclean. And I mean exactly.
Here’s one shot:
And here’s the doppelgänger getting thrown out:
Now, as you can see, Maclean’s twin wasn’t doing anything obnoxious or disruptive. So I’m thinking that most likely was not his actual seat.
Still, unless he actually took another fan’s spot without his or her permission, they shouldn’t have thrown the dude out. After all, who doesn’t love a good plot twist that involves a long lost twin brother?
