Chelsea’s Eden Hazard Kicked a Ball Boy (Video)
In this week’s edition of “Soccer Players Behaving Badly” we have something that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before: a player kicking a ball boy. And not in an “oops, I didn’t see you there buddy” kind of way, but rather, in a “give me the god–mn ball you little sh-t” kind of way.
It happened on Wednesday night. Chelsea was at Swansea for the second game of their two-leg semifinal matchup in the Capital One Cup. Swansea had already won the first game 2-0, so all the pressure was on Chelsea. And late in the game, with the score tied at 0-0, that pressure apparently got to the Blues’ Eden Hazard.
Take a look:
Yep, he definitely kicked the kid.
Now in fairness, it does seem like the home team’s ball boy was trying to stall for time by not giving it up right away. Then he seems to fall down rather easily on top of the ball. So you could understand why Hazard might be frustrated. But still, you can’t just kick a ball boy like that.
In any case, the ball boy came into Chelsea’s locker room after the game, where he and Hazard supposedly apologized to each other—the ball boy for wasting time, Hazard for kicking him.
“Eden Hazard has been in to see the ball boy and the two have apologised to each other,” Chelsea coach Rafael Benitez said. “The boy was apologising for time wasting. Hazard was frustrated and tried to get the ball. He was kicking the ball and getting the ball. We can analyse if for half an hour but we know that both are wrong.”
But really, Hazard was more wrong…right?
