Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson Kidnap Andrew Bynum in Funny Animated Sketch (Video)
Is there any bigger disappointment in the NBA this season than Andrew Bynum in Philadelphia? After having the best year of his career last year with the Lakers, the 76ers brought the 25-year-old, 7-foot center to Philadelphia in the offseason as part of the three-way deal that sent Dwight Howard to L.A., and almost immediately they started calling themselves contenders (you know, because they upset the Derrick Rose-less Bulls in the first round of the playoffs last year).
But Bynum was injured right off the bat. Specifically, he was dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee. He thus underwent an experimental blood treatment in Germany to help speed his healing. It didn’t make the process that speedy, though, and the team started saying he might not play his first game until January.
Then Bynum went bowling. And while bowling, he re-injured his knee. That pushed his return back until at least February.
Well, in case you hadn’t noticed, it’s February now. Bynum said he was healing nicely and expected to make it back by the end of the month. Then he started practicing, and apparently experienced severe pain in his left knee.
So…yeah. This is just getting ridiculous. And as you would expect, everyone in Philly is pretty fed up—including comedian Joe Conklin and cartoonist Kevin Lofton. So these two combined their talents and created a hilarious animated sketch in which Sixers greats Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson kidnap Andrew Bynum and beg him to pick up a basketball.
Oh, and wacky Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov also makes an appearance…sounding an awful lot like Borat.
It’s pretty funny. Check it out:
