Stat Line of the Night — 2/18/2013 — Ben Scrivens

After James Reimer went down with a knee injury earlier in the month, many wondered how Leafs back-up goaltender Ben Scrivens would fare as his replacement.  There were some skeptics following Scrivens’ lackluster performance in goal against the New York Islanders on January 24th, which saw him give up five goals on 25 shots, but let’s just say we’ve seen a different Ben Scrivens since then.

Since the Leafs’ 7-4 loss to the Isles, Scrivens has started five games, and he’s won four of them.  His last two victories have both come in the form of shutouts, including last night’s win over the Florida Panthers, which saw Scrivens stop all 37 shots he faced, en route to the 3-0 triumph.

With the win the Leafs improve to 10-6 on the season, which is currently good enough for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.  As for Scrivens, he improves his personal record to 4-3, his goals against average to 1.93, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, February 18, 2013.
