College Cheerleader Sinks Front-Flip Half-Court Shot (Video)
Small liberal arts colleges like William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, don’t make sports headlines very often. The school of 4,000 students doesn’t compete in NCAA Division I athleteics, nor do they compete in NCAA Division II, or even Division III athletics. Rather, they compete in the NAIA and play in the Southern States Athletic Conference—which is not exactly the SEC.
However, today you’re going to see William Carey making headlines on every sports and news site on the web thanks to one of their basketball cheerleaders. Ashlee Arnau, a 21-year-old junior who also plays soccer and runs track, made an absolutely ridiculous half-court shot during halftime of last night’s game against Auburn University Montgomery.
What was so ridiculous about it? It was an acrobatic front-flip shot. The ball was on the court, she ran toward it, grabbed the ball while upside down, then flipped and launched it toward the hoop.
It’s the exact same thing soccer players will sometimes do when they need exceptional length on a throw-in. Arnau said she usually tries 4 or 5 of them every game, but this is the first time she made one.
As you can imagine, everyone in the gym went bonkers.
Take a look:
Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, Ashlee. You definitely earned it.
