Watch Russell Westbrook Get Rejected by the Rim (Video)
How often does an NBA player miss an uncontested layup or dunk? Like, once every fifty chances—or something like that?
That’s just a guess. I don’t know the numbers, but I know it is rare. So that makes the clip you’re about to see very special.
Last night, the mighty OKC Thunder stopped by Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks. And while OKC left the Garden with a clutch 95-94 come-from-behind victory, the highlight of the night was actually a lowlight, and it belonged to All-Star point guard Russell Westbook.
After a great steal off of New York’s Raymond Felton at center court, Westbrook takes the ball in for a layup only to be denied by the rim. The announcers speculate that he got caught being indecisive about whether to go for the finger roll or the dunk, but it doesn’t really matter why it happened. It happened, and it was embarrassing.
Take a look:
And in case you were wondering, yes, Westbrook had a tough night all around. He started off with 15 in the 1st quarter, but tallied just six more points throughout the rest of the night.
So yeah, even the pros just can’t make a shot sometimes.
