Agnieszka Radwanska Gives Us the Best Tennis Shot of the Year So Far (Video)
Tennis, like golf or race car driving, is one of those sports that the general public doesn’t pay much attention to until the major events. Thus, unless you’re a huge tennis fan, you probably didn’t even know that the 2013 Sony Open is being played right now in Miami.
You do now, however, thanks to the #4 women’s player in the world, Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska. On Tuesday, Radwanska faced off against Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium, who is ranked #28 in the world. While up 2-0 in the second set and 15-0 in the third game, Radwanska took advantage of an opportunity to come to the net on a short ball off the racket of Flipkens, who then tried to hit a passing shot down the line. But the ball clipped the net, changed directions, and completely wrong-footed Radwanska. The point, everyone instantly assumed, would go to Flipkens…
Radwanska responded with the tennis shot of the year. She spun around 360-degrees and hit a slicing backhanded drop-shot volley for the winner. All her opponent could do was stare in disbelief.
Take a look:
After that amazing shot, Radwanska went on to win the match and earn a matchup against Serena Williams in the quarterfinals. That should be a good one.
