Former and Current Manchester United Players Play Soccer Blindfolded (Video)
Everybody loves a great sports partnership in which two players have a mutual instinctive understanding of what the other is going to do. In basketball, the partnership of John Stockton and Karl Malone comes to mind. And in hockey, there was the partnership between Adam Oates and Brett Hull, or the partnership between Wayne Gretzky and pretty much anyone. These are players that had such good instincts that you almost thought they could play blindfolded.
Did you ever wonder, though, what it would be like to see guys actually try to play blindfolded? Yeah, I didn’t either. But recently, the sports betting website Bwin (official jersey sponsor of Real Madrid) made just such a video anyway. It features Andrew Cole and Dwight Yorke, two former Manchester United players with a reputation for having an almost telepathic chemistry, plus three current Man U players in Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, and Javier Herhandez. They all take turns putting on blindfolds and performing basic soccer challenges, and the results are pretty much what you would expect—i.e., hilarious. We even get to see Wayne Rooney get hit in the face, though it would have been better if it were Cristiano Ronaldo.
Take a look:
So that pretty much settles that. While it may look like some superstars could play the game with their eyes closed, in reality…no, they can’t. No way.
