Bulgarian Coach Steals Referee’s Cards and Throws Them in Anger (Video)
Every soccer coach out there has probably wanted to take the referee’s cards from his hands, rip them in half and toss them in disgust at one time or another. The only difference between them and Botev Vratsa head coach Antoni Zdravkov is that they probably have never done such a thing, while the Bulgarian bench boss has.
During a match against CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria’s premier soccer league on Sunday, a Botev Vratsa defender was sent off following a blatant handball in the box. It was an easy call for the official, as the handball prevented what would have surely been a goal for CSKA Sofia. But that didn’t seem to matter to Antoni Zdravkov.
After CSKA’s Michel Platini capitalized on the penalty kick, Zdravkov proceeded to steal the cards from the referee’s hands and toss them towards the sideline in anger before making his way off the field.
You can check out the handball, the penalty kick and Zdravkov’s ensuing blow-up in the video below (the blow-up begins at the 1:50 mark):
That has to be every coach’s fantasy…in addition to winning a championship, of course.
