Lionel Messi Isn’t Used to Sitting on the Bench, May Need Refresher on What Is and Is Not Appropriate Behavior (GIF)
Yesterday, soccer fans saw something they do not see very often: the greatest player in the world, Lionel Messi, starting a game on the bench.
In the first leg of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain, Messi notched a goal to help his side record a 2-2 draw, but he strained his hamstring in the process. That forced him to miss Barcelona’s La Liga match this past Saturday, and it almost made him miss the second leg against PSG last night.
Luckily for Barcelona, Messi was cleared to play an hour before the game. However, having not played for a week, he wasn’t fit to start the match, which meant he had to spend a long time in a place that is not very familiar to him: the bench.
So, what does a guy like Messi do to entertain himself when he’s not in the game? Well…um…see for yourself:
Anyway, when Messi finally got in the game in the 62nd minute, he set up the goal that tied the game at 1-1 and advanced Barca to the Champions League semifinals, blah blah blah. You get the idea. Typical Messi stuff.
