Liverpool’s Luis Suarez Bites Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic on the Arm (Video + GIF)
Back on November 20, 2010, while playing for Ajax in the Dutch Football League, Luis Suarez was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount of money for biting PSV’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder.
So, did he learn his lesson following that incident? Apparently not.
During yesterday’s Premier League battle between Liverpool and Chelsea, Suarez once again channeled his inner Mike Tyson, this time biting the Blues’ Branislav Ivanovic on the arm. It was just one incident in what turned out to be a rather eventful game for Suarez, as he was also whistled for a hand ball in his own box in the 56th minute (leading to a Chelsea goal on the ensuing penalty kick), and he scored the equalizer for Liverpool seven minutes into second half injury time during the 2-2 draw.
But the play that everyone will be talking about is his ferocious chomp on Ivanovic’s arm.
Check it out:
And here’s a GIF of the bite:
Here’s what Suarez had to say following the game, via Twitter:
“I’m sad for what happened this afternoon, I apologize Ivanovic and all football world for my inexcusable behaviour. I’m so sorry about it!!”
I wouldn’t be surprised if they forced him to play with a mouthpiece from now on as part of his punishment. That’s one way to help a dude with an uncontrollable biting problem.
