QMJHL Playoff Game Ends in Massive Bench-Clearing Brawl (Video)
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs have been underway for quite a while now—36 days and three rounds, to be exact. And if you haven’t been paying attention, you may want to start.
Why, you ask? Because if you don’t, you might miss another bench-clearing brawl, much like the one that unfolded following last night’s game between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
With Baie-Comeau leading the series 2-1 heading into last night’s contest, Blainville-Boisbriand was able to even things up via their 4-3 victory. And they may have let their emotions get to them a little too much following their big win, as one of the Armada players was taunting the opposition following the final buzzer, resulting in the following bench-clearing brawl.
Check it out:
When it was all said and done, seven Drakkar players were suspended for a total of eight game, while five Armada players were suspended for a total of six games. Both head coaches were also handed two-game suspensions, but perhaps the most interesting punishment to come from this melee was the one-game suspension that each of the teams’ two goalies received, meaning both clubs will have to rely on their third-string goaltenders when they meet again for Game 5 in Baie-Comeau on Friday.
