Stat Line of the Night — 5/16/2013 — Zdeno Chara
Zdeno Chara’s biggest impact on a hockey game is usually his defensive play and his physicality, however, he has been getting the job done in the offensive zone as well thus far this post-season, and he continued that trend during Game One of the Bruins’ second-round series against the New York Rangers.
Chara opened the scoring with a second period goal to put the B’s up 1-0, and he would close out his two-point game with an assist on Brad Marchand‘s overtime winner that gave Boston the 3-2 victory and a 1-0 series lead.
It is still early, but with two goals, eight assists and a plus-8 rating in eight playofss games thus far, Chara is already entering his name into the discussion for Conn Smythe honors, should the Bruins make a deep enough run into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. But for now, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 16, 2013.
