There Was a Four-Wide Photo Finish at the Indy Lights Race in Indianapolis Today (Video)
This Sunday, the 97th edition of the Indianapolis 500 will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And while the premier event of the IndyCar series has produced plenty of exciting races over the course of its existence, this year’s race will be hard pressed to match the excitement that was delivered during today’s Indy Lights race.
With two laps remaining in the Firestone Freedom 100, Gabby Chaves, Sage Karam and Carlos Muñoz were in a tight three-way battle for first, while Peter Dempsey trailed behind, in fourth place. And things remained that way until the final turn, as Chaves, Karam and Muñoz were lined up three-wide as they approached the finish line, but that’s when Dempsey drafted his way past all three drivers and took the checkered flag by 0.0026 seconds.
