Stat Line of the Night — 6/4/2013 — Yasiel Puig

Yasiel Puig

Yasiel Puig has been quite the revelation for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Nearly one year after signing a seven-year/$42-million deal, the 22-year-old Cuban made his first start for the Dodgers on Monday, and he helped them secure the victory by doubling off the Padres’ Chris Denorfia at first with a frozen rope from deep right field for the final out of the game.  As for his second start with the Dodgers on Tuesday, it turned out to be even more impressive than his first.

Puig stepped to the plate four times on the evening, and with those four at bats he would rack up two homers, one double and five RBIs to help lead the Dodgers to the 9-7 victory over their inner-state rivals.

Some players don’t have that type of a game throughout their entire career.  As for Puig, he was able to have the game of his life in just his second career MLB start, and it earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
