Simpsons Characters Read Starting Lineup at Dodgers Stadium (Video)
Yesterday, the Los Angeles Dodgers brought out Moe Szyslak, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, and Police Chief Clancy Wiggum to read the home team’s starting lineup—which is to say, they brought out Hank Azaria, who performs the voices for all three of those classic Simpsons characters.
It was the first time this writer had ever heard anybody from the Simpsons read the lineups for an MLB game, so we’re going to assume, logically, that it must have been the first time it has ever happened.
So how was it? Well, kind of weird, actually. I mean, Azaria was good, but just watching one dude do all those voices kind of ruins the magic.
It’s still worth a look, though, so here’s the video. Pay special attention to what the announcer says at the 2:20 mark, as well as Azaria’s reaction:
What’s that, buddy? Police Chief Wiggans? Yeah, it’s pretty understandable that you wouldn’t be familiar with characters on The Simpsons. I mean, the show’s only been on the air for 24 years, and re-runs only air, what, seven times a day?
